Shelton Jackson 'Spike' Lee (born March 20, 1957) is an American film director, producer, screenwriter, and actor. Known for his exploration of race relations, issues within the black community, and social and political topics, Lee has received numerous accolades for his work, including an Academy Award, two Primetime Emmy Awards, and a BAFTA Award. He has also been honored with an Honorary BAFTA, an Honorary César, and the Academy Honorary Award. Lee made his directorial debut with 'She's Gotta Have It' in 1986 and has since directed films like 'Do the Right Thing,' 'Malcolm X,' and 'BlacKkKlansman.' He is the founder of the production company 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks.
