Steve Lawrence (born Sidney Liebowitz; July 8, 1935) is an American singer, comedian, and actor. He is best known for his work as a member of the duo 'Steve and Eydie' with his wife Eydie Gormé. The duo gained popularity after their appearances on the show 'Tonight Starring Steve Allen' in 1954. Lawrence's notable acting role was as Maury Sline, the manager and friend of the main characters in 'The Blues Brothers'. Born in Brooklyn, New York City, Lawrence began his singing career at a young age and gained recognition for his performances in the Brill Building. He has had a successful career spanning decades, and his work with Eydie Gormé has left a lasting impact on the entertainment industry.
