Steve Martin, born Stephen Glenn Martin on August 14, 1945, is an American comedian, actor, writer, producer, and musician. He has won five Grammy Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, and was awarded an Honorary Academy Award in 2013. Martin was also nominated for two Tony Awards for his musical Bright Star in 2016. He received the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 2005, the Kennedy Center Honors in 2007, and an AFI Life Achievement Award in 2015. Martin gained public notice in the 1960s as a writer for The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour and later as a frequent host on Saturday Night Live. Known for his offbeat comedy routines, he performed in sold-out theaters across the nation in the 1970s. Martin has appeared in numerous movies and TV shows and remains a highly influential figure in the entertainment industry.
