    Suranne Jones, born Sarah Anne Akers on August 27, 1978, is an English actress and producer. She gained popularity for her role as Karen McDonald in the television series Coronation Street from 2000 to 2004. Following her departure from the show, Jones continued her television career with appearances in drama series such as Vincent (2005–2006), Strictly Confidential (2006), and Harley Street (2008). She received critical acclaim for her performance as convicted murderer Ruth Slater in the mini-series Unforgiven (2009). From 2011 to 2016, Jones starred as Detective Rachel Bailey in the police procedural Scott & Bailey. She has also impressed audiences with her roles in Single Father, Five Days (both 2010), The Crimson Field (2014), and various stage productions. Recently, she gained attention for her portrayal of Gemma Foster in the TV series Doctor Foster.
