Thomas Ruggles Pynchon Jr., born on May 8, 1937, is an American novelist renowned for his intricate and intricate novels, covering a wide range of subjects such as history, music, science, and mathematics. He received the U.S. National Book Award for Fiction in 1973 for his novel Gravity's Rainbow. Pynchon served in the United States Navy for two years and graduated with an English degree from Cornell University. He gained recognition for his novels V. (1963), The Crying of Lot 49 (1966), and Gravity's Rainbow (1973). In 1997, he published the well-received historical novel Mason & Dixon, and his 2009 novel Inherent Vice was adapted into a film in 2014. Pynchon is famously known for his reclusive nature.
