Ernest Joseph Anastasio III, popularly known as Trey Anastasio, is an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter. Born on September 30, 1964, Anastasio gained recognition as the lead guitarist and co-founder of the rock band Phish in 1983. His contribution to Phish includes composing 152 original songs, both as a solo credit and as a part of the band. Apart from his work with Phish, Anastasio has released 11 solo albums and has been involved in various side projects such as the Trey Anastasio Band, Oysterhead, Ghosts of the Forest, Phil Lesh and Friends, and Surrender to the Air. He has also collaborated with renowned orchestras like the New York Philharmonic and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, among others. Anastasio, along with Amanda Green, received a Tony Award nomination for Best Original Score at the 67th Tony Awards in 2013 for their work on the Broadway musical Hands on a Hardbody.
