Valeria Golino is an Italian actress and film director. She was born on October 22, 1965, in Naples, Italy. Golino is best known for her roles in Rain Man, Big Top Pee-wee, and the two Hot Shots! films. She has won several awards, including the David di Donatello, Silver Ribbon, Golden Ciak, and Italian Golden Globe awards. Golino is one of four actresses to have twice won the Best Actress award at the Venice Film Festival. She comes from an artistic background, with her father being a Germanist scholar and her mother being a painter. Golino's interest in films developed during her childhood, as her mother frequently took her to the cinema.
