William Devane Biography
William Devane is an American actor known for his roles on both television and film. He was born on September 5, 1939, in Albany, New York. Devane rose to prominence for his portrayal of Greg Sumner on the popular primetime soap opera Knots Landing from 1983 to 1993. He also gained recognition for his role as James Heller on the Fox serial dramas 24 from 2001 to 2010 and 24: Live Another Day in 2014. Devane has appeared in several notable films, including Family Plot (1976), Marathon Man (1976), Rolling Thunder (1977), Payback (1999), and Space Cowboys (2000). Prior to his television and film career, Devane performed in 15 plays with the New York Shakespeare Festival after graduating from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in 1962.
