Xosha Kai Roquemore is an American actress born on December 11, 1984 in Los Angeles. She gained recognition for her roles as Jo Ann in the film Precious and Tamra in the television series The Mindy Project. Roquemore began her acting career at The Amazing Grace Conservatory during her high school years before moving to New York City to attend the Tisch program at New York University. Her breakout role came with her portrayal of Jo Ann in the critically acclaimed film Precious. In addition to her film work, Roquemore also appeared in the television series Kirstie and joined The Mindy Project as a series regular after a guest star stint. Roquemore was previously in a relationship with actor LaKeith Stanfield and they have a daughter together.
