Zawe Ashton Biography
Zawe Ashton (born July 25, 1984) is a British actress, playwright, and narrator. She is known for her roles in comedy dramas Fresh Meat and Not Safe for Work, as well as the Netflix horror thriller film Velvet Buzzsaw. Ashton gained recognition for her portrayal of Joyce Carol Vincent in Dreams of a Life (2011). She will be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Dar-Benn in The Marvels (2023). Ashton was born in Hackney, London to a Ugandan mother, Victoria, and an English father, Paul Ashton. She attended the Anna Scher Theatre School and the National Youth Theatre. She holds a degree in acting from Manchester Metropolitan University. Ashton has performed in notable theater productions such as Harold Pinter's Betrayal at The Harold Pinter Theatre and Broadway's Bernard B. Jacob's Theatre.
