What is Little Bird (TV) About?
Set against the backdrop of the Sixties Scoop's long-enduring impact, 'Little Bird' is a narrative of one woman’s poignant search for self-identity. The series charts the life of Bezhig Little Bird, taken from her home on Saskatchewan's Long Pine Reserve and adopted into a Jewish family in Montréal. Rechristened as Esther Rosenblum, she grows up far from her cultural roots. Now an adult, her deep-seated yearning drives her to unravel her past and locate the family she was compelled to leave behind. 'Little Bird' offers an intimate look into the emotional upheaval and complex realities faced by those affected by this chapter of Canadian history. This dramatic journey unfolds across a narrative that questions identity, family, and belonging. Created by Jennifer Podemski and Hannah Moscovitch, the series features Darla Contois in the lead role, supported by an ensemble cast including Ellyn Jade, and Eric Schweig, with episodes directed by talented Indigenous film-makers Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers and Zoe Hopkins. 'Little Bird' premiered on Crave and APTN lumi and marks a significant original drama series for Crave since its rebranding from The Movie Network. The show stands independently but resonates with similar themes as the concurrently created drama series, 'Unsettled'.
The first episode of Little Bird aired on May 26, 2023 and the most recent episode to air was on June 30, 2023.
