Alison Jones

Alison Jones is a New Zealand academic and sociologist specializing in the field of education. She holds a Doctor of Education degree from the University of Auckland, where she conducted research on social reproduction in a New Zealand secondary school. Jones is currently a Professor in Te Puna Wānanga, School of Māori and Indigenous Education at the University of Auckland. In recognition of her contributions to education and sociology research, Jones was appointed a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the 2019 New Year Honours. She has authored several books and was awarded the Dame Joan Metge medal in 2014. Jones is also a descendant of notable New Zealand politicians and British naval officers.
