Charles McRay Blow is an American journalist, commentator, and op-ed columnist for The New York Times. He is also a political analyst for MSNBC. Born on August 11, 1970, in Gibsland, Louisiana, Blow attended Gibsland–Coleman High School where he founded the school newspaper. He graduated as valedictorian in 1988. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree in mass communication from Grambling State University, graduating magna cum laude. Blow interned at various newspapers, including The New York Times, before joining The Detroit News as a graphics artist. In 1994, he joined The New York Times as a graphics editor and later became the head of the newspaper's graphics department. In 2006, he became the art director of National.
