Christopher Reeve Biography
Christopher D'Olier Reeve (September 25, 1952 – October 10, 2004) was an American actor, film director, author, and activist. He gained worldwide recognition for his portrayal of Superman in the film of the same name (1978) and its sequels. Reeve was born in New York City and raised in Princeton, New Jersey. He developed a passion for acting at a young age and went on to study at Cornell University and the Juilliard School. Reeve appeared in numerous successful films, including The Bostonians (1984), Street Smart (1987), and The Remains of the Day (1993), as well as stage productions such as Fifth of July and The Aspern Papers. In 1995, Reeve suffered a spinal cord injury during an equestrian competition that left him paralyzed.
