John Barrowman Biography
John Scot Barrowman (born March 11, 1967) is a Scottish-American actor, author, presenter, singer, and comic book writer. He gained fame for his portrayal of Captain Jack Harkness in Doctor Who and Torchwood, as well as Malcolm Merlyn in the Arrowverse. Barrowman was born in Glasgow and later moved to Illinois, USA, at the age of eight. He studied performing arts at the United States International University in San Diego before establishing himself in London's West End with his role as Billy Crocker in Anything Goes. He has since starred in numerous musicals, including Miss Saigon, The Phantom of the Opera, Sunset Boulevard, and Matador. Barrowman has received critical acclaim for his performances and was nominated for the 1998 Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical.
