John Hickenlooper Biography
John Wright Hickenlooper Jr. (born February 7, 1952) is an American politician and former geologist and businessman. He currently serves as the junior United States senator from Colorado since 2021. Prior to his senatorial role, Hickenlooper held various positions in public office. He was the 42nd governor of Colorado from 2011 to 2019 and the 43rd mayor of Denver from 2003 to 2011. Hickenlooper gained recognition for his leadership as mayor, earning a spot on TIME's list of America's five best big-city mayors in 2005. Before venturing into politics, Hickenlooper co-founded the Wynkoop Brewing Company, one of the first brewpubs in the U.S. He holds a degree from Wesleyan University.
