Karl Miller
Karl Fergus Connor Miller FRSL (2 August 1931 – 24 September 2014) was a Scottish literary editor, critic, and writer. Born in Loanhead, Midlothian, Miller studied English at the Royal High School of Edinburgh and Downing College, Cambridge. He became the literary editor of The Spectator and the New Statesman before resigning from the latter due to a disagreement with the magazine's editor. Miller then went on to become the editor of The Listener and later founded the London Review of Books, which he edited from 1979 to 1992. Additionally, he served as the Lord Northcliffe Professor of Modern English Literature and head of the English Department at University College London. Miller passed away at the age of 83 in 2014.
