Mehmet Oz

Mehmet Cengiz Öz, known professionally as Dr. Oz, is an American television presenter, physician, author, and professor emeritus of cardiothoracic surgery at Columbia University. Born on June 11, 1960, in Cleveland, Ohio, Oz is the son of Turkish immigrants. He grew up in Wilmington, Delaware, and went on to graduate from Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania. Oz served in the Turkish Army for a brief period to maintain his Turkish citizenship. He began his residency in surgery at Columbia University Irving Medical Center in 1986. Oz gained prominence as a regular guest on The Oprah Winfrey Show and later hosted his own show, The Dr. Oz Show.
