Octavia Spencer

Octavia Lenora Spencer (born May 25, 1970) is an American actress and producer. She made her film debut in the 1996 drama A Time to Kill and gained recognition for her breakthrough role as a maid in 1960s America in the drama film The Help (2011), for which she won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She is the first black actress to receive two consecutive Oscar nominations. Spencer has also received acclaim for her performances in films such as Fruitvale Station (2013), Hidden Figures (2016), and The Shape of Water (2017). She has won several awards, including a Golden Globe and a British Academy Film Award.
