Pendleton Ward, born on September 23, 1982, is an American animator, screenwriter, producer, director, and voice actor. He is best known for his work at Cartoon Network Studios, Frederator Studios, and Netflix Animation. Ward is the creator of the popular series Adventure Time, the Internet series Bravest Warriors, and the adult animated interview series The Midnight Gospel. Growing up in San Antonio, Texas, Ward developed an interest in animation at a young age, thanks to his artist mother's influence. He began creating flipbooks in first grade and collaborated with his friend Alec Coates on short comic books. Ward attended the North East School of the Arts in San Antonio and later studied at CalArts, where he befriended J. G. Quintel and Alex Hirsch, with whom he collaborated on The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack.
