Rosemary Murphy (January 13, 1925 – July 5, 2014) was a German-American actress known for her work in stage, film, and television. She received three Tony Award nominations and won two Emmy Awards, one for her performance in Eleanor and Franklin (1976). Born in Munich, Germany, in 1925, Murphy was the daughter of American parents Mildred and Robert Daniel Murphy. The family left Germany in 1939 due to World War II. Murphy trained as an actress at Catholic University of America and the Neighborhood Playhouse and Actors Studio in New York. She made her Broadway debut in 1950 and appeared in around 15 Broadway productions throughout her career.
