Terrence Dashon Howard (born March 11, 1969) is an American actor. He gained recognition for his roles in the films Dead Presidents (1995) and Mr. Holland's Opus (1995). From 2004 to 2006, Howard appeared in various television and cinema projects, establishing himself in the mainstream. He received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor for his performance in Hustle & Flow. Howard has been part of notable movies such as Winnie Mandela, Ray, Crash, and Iron Man. He also starred as Lucious Lyon in the television series Empire. In addition to his acting career, Howard released his debut album, Shine Through It, in 2008.
