John William Ferrell, born July 16, 1967, is an American actor, comedian, writer, and producer. Ferrell gained recognition for his leading roles in comedy films and as a television producer. He has received four Emmy Awards and was awarded the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 2011. In 2015, Ferrell received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was named the best comedian by British GQ. He first rose to fame as a cast member on NBC's Saturday Night Live from 1995 to 2002. Ferrell is part of the 'Frat Pack,' a group of prominent comic actors in Hollywood. In 2007, he co-founded the comedy website Funny or Die with his former writing partner Adam McKay.
