The Little Mermaid is a 2023 American musical romantic fantasy film directed by Rob Marshall. It is a live-action adaptation of Disney's 1989 animated film of the same name, based on the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale. The film follows Ariel, a mermaid princess who yearns to explore the human world. After rescuing Prince Eric from a shipwreck, she strikes a deal with the sea witch Ursula to transform into a human. However, this decision puts her life and her father's kingdom at risk.
