Melissa McCarthy

Melissa Ann McCarthy (born August 26, 1970) is an American actress, screenwriter, producer, and fashion designer. She gained recognition for her role as Sookie St. James on the television series Gilmore Girls (2000–2007). McCarthy has also appeared in numerous films, including Bridesmaids, The Heat, Spy, Ghostbusters, and Can You Ever Forgive Me? She has received two Primetime Emmy Awards and has been nominated for two Academy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. In addition to her acting career, McCarthy has been named one of Time's 100 most influential people and has been included in annual rankings of the highest-paid actresses. She was ranked #22 in The New York Times' list of the 25 Greatest Actors of the 21st Century.
