Michael Ironside, born Frederick Reginald Ironside on February 12, 1950, is a Canadian actor and filmmaker known for his portrayals of villains and antiheroes. He was born in Toronto to Patricia June and Robert Walter Ironside and is of English, Irish, and Scottish descent. Ironside attended the Ontario College of Art in Toronto and showed his talent as a writer at a young age, winning awards for his playwriting. He gained recognition for his role as Darryl Revok in the film Scanners (1981) and went on to appear in numerous films and TV shows, including Visiting Hours (1982), The A-Team, and Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone (1983).
