The Extra Man is a 2010 comedy film based on Jonathan Ames' novel of the same name. It follows the story of a failed playwright, Henry Harrison, who mentors a troubled, cross-dressing aspiring writer named Louis Ives. Henry introduces Louis to the world of being an "extra man" by accompanying affluent older women in their social activities. The film stars Kevin Kline, Paul Dano, Katie Holmes, and John C. Reilly.
