Lou Diamond Phillips, born Louis Diamond Upchurch on February 17, 1962, is a Filipino-American actor and film director. He gained recognition for his breakthrough role as Ritchie Valens in the biographical drama film La Bamba (1987). Phillips received critical acclaim and earned a Golden Globe nomination for his performance in Stand and Deliver (1988), along with winning an Independent Spirit Award. He also made his mark on Broadway, earning a Tony Award nomination for his portrayal of King Mongkut in the 1996 revival of The King and I. Notable film credits include Young Guns, Courage Under Fire, and The Big Hit. On television, Phillips played Henry Standing Bear in the series Longmire and portrayed Lieutenant Gil Arroyo in Prodigal Son on FOX from 2019 to 2021.
